New York City

On Thursday we had a very long day in the city, so this will be a very long post.  The house we stayed in was in Westhampton.  Our day started out driving from Westhampton to Ronkonkoma where we had to catch our train.  We got there with no time to spare.  Here are a few pictures of Kaden's first train ride.

I'll show you how to get there, Mom.

Once we got off the train at Penn Station we had to go to Battery Park to go to the Statue of Liberty. To get to Battery Park we took the subway.  This was Kaden's first subway ride too.

We picked up our tickets in Battery Park and got in a never ending line.  We were in line for 2 hours! When the Olsen's went to New York City before September 11th 2001, you could get right on the ferry without having to wait in a long line.  This set us a bit behind schedule.  Once we got on the ferry we posed for a family picture.

When we finally made it to the Statue of Liberty we took a few minutes to pose for more pictures.

From the Ferry

After leaving the island, I took a few more shots.
This is how we all felt at this point.
Next we went to Ellis Island.  It was very interesting to see where so many immigrants entered the United States.

Once we made it back to the city we walked to where the World Trade Center used to stand.  It was very sad to think of what happened there almost 9 years ago.

At this point we were starved so we walked to Little Italy and shared some pizza.  Kaden even had some.

Next we went over to Radio City Music hall to take some pictures.  I had to make sure I got Jason's picture since he was in The Wizard of Oz there when he was little.

Then we rushed to Rockefeller Center and Time Square.  I was especially impressed by Times Square.

Finally it was time to get on the train and go back to the house.  When we finally got back to the train station we realized that we were missing Reno and Linda (2 of the Italians).  Giorgia however made a quick phone call and found them.  You would think that after 16 hours in the city Kaden would be a little cranky or at least fall asleep on the train, but no, he entertained us all on the hour ride back to Ronkonkoma.
