The elf came to visit us for the first time this year. Kaden got really excited about it. He wanted to read the story every night before bed. Every morning he would look around the house for the elf. When we had visitors he would point the elf out to the visitors. He didn't cry or have a hard time when the elf left, but out of the blue, about a month after Christmas, he walked around the house calling, "elf, elf, where are you".
